The Anxiety Deceived You!!

The word ‘anxiety’ is often heard in the society either from people, movies, podcasts or just anywhere.    Anxiety is a feeling of nervousness, fear and dread. It is a normal reaction to stress which everyone may have from time to time but there is this disorder that is more than just a normal reaction to stress, it is called ‘Anxiety Disorder’. Anxiety disorder is mental condition that leads to excessive nervousness and fear.

Anxiety Disorder is a condition that should closely be paid attention to and it is quite sad to realize that in places like Africa, parents mistaken anxiety disorder for shyness and proceed to shout or beat the anxiety out of the child.

Writing about this topic is something I find interesting because I know people struggle with anxiety disorder in this part of the world and yet everyone both friends and family fail to see this. Anxiety stops a person from going out there to the world and offering something we would love and appreciate. It makes you just want to hide in a box and never come out.

You may not know you have anxiety disorder but there are some signs you may notice like restlessness, fatigue, pains that cannot be explained, sleeplessness. There are also types of anxiety disorder like social anxiety disorder, illness anxiety disorder, panic disorder and phobia. You may be anxious about how people will see you and judge your action like in social anxiety disorder, anxious about your health like in illness anxiety disorder, extreme fear of something like phobia. In panic disorder, panic attacks occur frequently. Panic attack is intense fear from no threat or danger and to know what panic attacks are, there are symptoms like, difficulty in breathing, sweating, hyperventilation, shaking, tachycardia. These attacks may occur due to trauma, stress, bad news or even family history.

People with anxiety disorder need psychotherapy. They need constant encouragement and motivation; they need a support group because anxiety kills self-esteem. They need people who they can speak to about it and help them with the tiny and big steps they want to take. They need to speak to a doctor who would help with medications. Most importantly, they need to discover it and determine to fight it.

If you are reading this and you think or you know you have anxiety disorder, I want you to know that you can fight it and show the world how amazing you are. it’s time to believe that you are worthy of recognition, you are worthy of applause, you are worthy of success. The world needs you to be a fighter so do this for you, for those who love you and for the world.
